I am engaged in the general practice of law in Jacksonville, Illinois, the County seat of Morgan County, where I concentrate my practice in corporate, commercial, tax, estate planning, probate and family law matters.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Illinois College in 1967. After service in the U.S. Navy as a carrier pilot and as a riverine warfare advisor in Vietnam, I received a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1978 from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and thereafter completed advanced legal studies in Federal Taxation at New York University where I was awarded a Master of Laws in Taxation (LLM) in 1979. After practicing law with a leading west central Illinois law firm until 1994, I became a director and Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Davel Communications, Inc., a company I had advised in a successful initial public issue of stock. My work for Davel involved the direct acquisition of many small, private companies and participation in several large bank financing and acquisitions of public companies. In 1998 I left Davel and after brief sabbatical opened this office.

Some of my significant professional accomplishments include service as legal counsel to executors concerning both the probate and tax aspects of several multi-million dollar decedents' estates; I have tried cases before the Illinois Circuit Courts, United States Tax Court, Federal District Court and appeared before the United States Appellate Court and Illinois Appellate Court. I served as chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association's Federal Tax Section. I am a member of the Morgan County, Illinois and American Bar Associations and was President of the Morgan County Bar in 1989. From 1980 until 1994 I was a part time Instructor in Federal Taxation and in Advanced Business Law at Illinois College. Other significant service includes having been a director of the American Public Communications Council and a director of Elliott State Bank in Jacksonville, Illinois.
